What is Superannuation? PDF Print E-mail

Superannuation is a government regulated investment strategy which is designed so that people working in Australia can be financially stable upon their retirement.

The Superannuation Guarantee program requires employers to make contributions to a Superannuation fund for all individuals employed in Australia regardless of nationality. This contribution is calculated at the current percentage.

  • Superannuation is 9% of your taxable salary.
  • You must pay Superannuation regardless of whom your employer is e.g. Geoffrey Nathan, recruitment agency or a company direct.
  • It is compulsory that Superannuation is deducted from every employee working in Australia.
  • You can claim approximately 70% of your Superannuation back once you return home. The balance of 30% is paid as tax in lieu as no tax was paid at the time of earning.
  • At Geoffrey Nathan your superannuation will be in the one super fund regardless of how many companies your work for. This is because Geoffrey Nathan is viewed as your employer.

Superannuation contributions will be submitted to the Geoffrey Nathan Consulting Account at AMP (an Australian based financial institution).

Superannuation can be withdrawn when you leave Australia. In order to process this withdrawal you must contact AMP directly or alternatively you can contact our financial adviser detailed below:
